June 25th
On the road again, going to the (Finnish) countryside to enjoy the sun (and the rednecks and mosquitos!) for a few weeks.
Hope ya'll's summah has been going super.
Mine's been rocking! Been skating nearly every day for a month now, after which I've been taking a small break from it because I busted my wrist. It's definitely getting better but it hurt like a mo'fo when I busted it. I also busted it once after hurting it...that hurt even more! :D
Well, anyways, here's some shit:
*Jungle Got No Ranks is FINALLY coming out on Make-Shift Records.
We all know how sometimes bad karma comes up when pressing music onto vinyl, and with this one, we had a LOT of that.
But, as we all also know, good things come to those who can wait, and here it is...
Release date coming soon enough...watch this space!
Audio HERE! On the flipside, there's Dodz from Toronto - will link ya'll to a soundclip goodness of that soon.
*Lightless004, which - unfortunately - confronted a lot of bad karma too, will be out on July 4.
Sorry for the delay - it's taken over six months!
But here it is :)
A - Cycom - Petrol
AA - Bad Matter vs Martsman - Cold Love
*Here I announce the tracklist of the next Fanu album, End Of An Era (the working title was "Homefree").

Check some audio below:

You Bring Out The Evil In Me (soundclip coming soon)
*I just saw a tracklisting for Burial's DJ Kicks mix floating around the net.
There's the Fanu track For Those Who Dream on it, but there's been much debate going on about whether the tracklist is fake or not...I call fake.
*Here's Khal's review of Lightless004:
Fanu sure knows how to pick 'em, eh? On this, the 4th release on his Lightless Recordings label, Fanu has first brought forth an Electro-infused romp from Cycom. ''Petrol'' has those 808 claps and a rumbling bassline to it, but his Electro heaven is of the darker nature, booming like a drug pulsating through your veins, cooling your tension while giving you some heavy visuals. This cut rides the fine line between being the perfect transition tune to a sneaky surprise to drop on an unsuspecting crowd. On the flipside, Bad Matter and Martsman lock horns and show you that, you can keep the same intensity in your tracks while still experimenting with different drum kits. Bringing a sinister vibe, ''Cold Love'' is a rollin', darkside ride, perfect for vibing to in your headphones with your hoodie pulled up, or a nasty tune to slip into the mix. Watch for the drum work in the middle! And keep your eyes peeled for future Lightless material...
June 16th

December 10th
2007 will be over soon, so it's time for me to get thankful for the past year.
I want to thank all the people who make the life I lead possible for me.
A gigantic thanks to all of you who keep booking me, fixing gigs for me (special shout-out to Chad), showing up to Fanu gigs, buying my music, supporting me in whatever way, and keeping me going.
You truly are the best, and I still haven't forgot how privileged I am, and I never will.
I've been travelling so much this year, making lots of new friends, meeting the coolest people, making loads of new connections, and the album's been doing well so I'm more than happy.
I feel bad for not being able to reply to all messages I get – sometimes I simply don't have time even if I wanted to – but I can say that every message is read and all the appreciation gives me more faith in what I do – and it's mutual.
It's been an awesome year, and it's only been that thanks to all of you out there who make it possible for me.
Thanks to all of you again – I couldn't do this without you!
November 26th
Ok, I haven't done an update for a while, but here it cumz!
For some reason I always do this when flying, and this time is no exception (I'm taking full advantage of the free beer, wine, and whiskey here. Big up Lufthansa).
Wassup in the Fanuworld?
There's been enough stress and hardships, but now, many fresh winds are blowing and I'm feeling awesome.
As for music, I'm working on another album.
Why? Well, Daylightless has been doing really well – I didn't have too many expectations, but I'm really positively surprised by the sales.
I'm SO GRATEFUL to each and every person who has purchased Daylightless in either form.
Thank you!!! I'd also like to recommend you to get your copy while you still can.
My sound has never been the biggest in terms of sales but I have to be honest and say now that the sales figures make me smile.
Another good reason for doing an album in pretty much the same way I did Daylightless is that doing a CD with with all styles alongside certain, accessible-enough vinyl cuts makes so much sense. The 2CD I released is really affordable, and the new album, which will be called "Homefree", will be in the form of one CD and maybe one or two 12"s with more dancefloor-friendly cuts.
I know many of you may be interested to hear how much dnb there will be.
At the moment there are 7 songs, 2 of which are dnb.
"Amok" and "Where It Rains Blood". Really proud of those two, and I think there will be more dnb. Scroll down a bit and you can listen to audio of those two tracks.
I'm working on more material all the time.
I've been really busy in the studio, having looooong days...I've often worked from 7pm to 7am....that's me, I'm devoting myself to my craft.
I've just finished a remix for a super awesome downtempo act called The New Law. They're from USA, and they're working on their 2nd album as well.
If you haven't heard of them, you should check them out NOW at www.thenewlaw.com. On the site, you can find a link and purchased the very affordable, self-titled album (SUPPORT THE GOOD UG MUSIC AND INDEPENDENT ARTISTS, THEY ALL DESERVE EVERY PENNY).
The remix will be on their forthcoming album as well as on the forthcoming album of mine.
I've also delivered the final master of the remix I did for Welder:
Welder - Purple and Orange (Fanu's Travelling remix)
Should be coming out soon enough on an EP.
The US tour for April is building up nicely: I think there will be at least 10 shows: some negotiations are still going on. We're currently trying to come to an agreement with the last cities and publish the schedule soon enough!
I must send my public thank-yous to my always-so-hard-working, Seattle-based US manager Chad aka mr Olcyrus; without his work, this wouldn't be possible.
Chad, you need a hug and some bromance. LoL.
I've had some thoughts about relocating myself somewhere else...more thoughts on that will follow later.
I'm now flying back to Helsinki from Italy, where I had MAD fun with the Trickbag DJs, who arranged an awesome party at the venue "Edera" in Codroipo. The Trickbag DJ kru is the best and I have a lot of respect for them for pushing the good dnb sound in such a remote location! You ROCK.
Expect loads of new photos in the gallery section as soon as I get my lazy ass to do a little bit of work!
Next DJ stops are in December, and they are Tampere (Dec 1), Vienna (Dec 6), Bratislava (Dec 7), and Moscow (Dec 8).
January will be for chilling and something else mind-blowing, and in Feb, I'm rocking in Belgium.
Ok, that's enuff for now: back to the free whiskey!
October 23rd
I've updated all the audio pages, added some audio clips and all.
Forthcoming audio also contains dub snippets from now on so keep checking for new sounds!
I'll list the new dubs here – for all you lazy asses:

I've also updated my discography and stuff on my Virb page (see the link on the column on the right).

Something new for your Fanu collection:
The Nine Inch Nails remix album called "Y34RZ3R0R3M1X3D" is coming out on Oct 20th, according to the Nine Inch Nails Website (<- click).
There's
tracks that Fanu beats were used on: they are Bill Laswell's reworks of the track "Vessel". The Laswell versions on the album are called "Vessel", "Vessel [mix 1]" and "Vessel [mix 2]". The first one is available as a digital download and the mixes 1 and 2 will be on the vinyl version.
October 15th
Very first things first:
I'm taking European bookings for the first quarter of 2008 right NOW.
We will soon be working on my US tour for 2008, and it is likely that it'll happen sometime during the 2nd quarter of 2008.
So get your order in, lol, if u wanna have some of that Fanu goodness at your party in early 2008.
So now lemme speak about something else...
There's been a lot of talk - and I've received loads of messages - about me "quitting" dnb...see the blog post from July 15th.
Yes, I was bored with dnb – it does go cyclically – but I never said I'd quit.
I just don't do shit like that. You just don't "quit" the biggest things in your life...it's ok to put 'em on the backburner for a while but you don't quit that shit just like that. And I never did and I didn't say I'd do so.
Anyways, I'm pretty damn inspired in terms of dnb again.
Finished this track called "Where It Rains Blood" (soundclip here!), and as soon as that was done, I've been working on two other tracks.
I will post soundclips up here on the blog section soon!
Lightless004 will be hitting mastering soon:
A - Cycom - Petrol
AA - Bad Matter vs Martsman - Cold Love
Khoma will be on the art job, so expect dope-ass art soon enough!!! You'll see it here first for sure.
Check the gallery section for loads of new photos from all over the world.
I've purchased and received loads of great dnb recently and I think soon will be the time to make a new mix!
And, last and maybe least, I've entered the world of Facebook: this is my page and this is my grumpy junglist group and here's my dope-ass cause. Hit me up yo!
October 11th
Gig date update:
*Nov 9, Rovaniemi, Finland
*Nov 24, Edera/Udine, Italy

And oh, the characters represent the actual DJs at the event...and I'm the robot that says "free entry!"

September 30th, part II
Man, I've hardly touched my studio this year....
Been feeling rather uninspired until now: early this year school killed the inspiration, and later, I picked up skateboarding again, which pretty effectively kept me out of the house...
But now, I did a little US tour, played and heard lots of good dnb, met lots of inspiring and creative people, then moved house, ordered a Soundcraft desk, ditched Ableton, purchased Logic 8, decided to bring Akai s5000 back to life, set up a totally new studio for myself in the new house, and the dark and inspirational autumn arrived here too...all of which have contributed positively to making me feelin' good about teh dnb and production in general!
Kind of finished doing the studio today and I already have two tunes cooking...oh man, the goosebumps are killing me!
Just wanted to let you know!
September 30th, part I
Ok this comes a few days late but I've had to move house so that's taken all my time!
This is what I wrote – about the US minitour I did – on the plane when flying back to Finland from USA.
---
Ok guys, I'm on a plane to Helsinki thru Amsterdam.
Gotta kill time so here's a few words about the trip.
Here's a few thoughts about the tour: some of em are directed more specifically to some people, and some are general, for ya'll.
In general, the tour was damn smooth!
Was a piece of cake to get across the border: nobody checked if I had records in my record bag, so a tourist I was.
All airports in the US were daaamn smooth: there was NO queuing (unlike in Europe every time) and the US Airways self-service check-in was fast and dope.
There were two times when I came close to missing my flight:
1) When I took a flight from New Orleans to Newark thru Charlotte: the flight from NOLA to Charlotte was late and I didn't have much time between the flights anyways so man I had to run! They put me straight into the plane and off we took.
2) When I flew from NYC to Detroit to catch my flight to 'Dam: the schedule was pretty damn tight as it was and we got to Detroit at least 20 mins late. Jesus, I had to run thru the damn airport like Ben Johnson as soon as we touched down! I made it, geez, but that was soooo close...I was the last person to board the plane for sure, think they were waiting for me.
I'd THINK that if you got inter-connected flights, they're not gonna leave ya, BUT what proved me wrong was the NOLA->Newark flight: I got worried during the flight and told the stewardess about that and she said "Oh, there's many people taking the same connecting flight with you" but I was the first fucker to run to the gate like hell, and as soon as I got in, we took off...so some people were left there for sure.
So, if you wanna learn something from those, it's that it's really not clever to book flights where the connections are so damn tight...cuz you run the risk of losing your flight.
There were also some early flights out which kinda make things a bit stressful and won't let me party (booze) much so in future, no early flights please
I had super much fun at everybody's place and every single person I met on the tour kicked ass!
All 4 gigs went super duper smooth and there were no problems at gigs (except one gig got cut short as it was the last set of the night and the venue owner fuckers wanted to close early, which I found reeeeally odd...!).
I'm feel so privileged to get to travel around the world for free every month and meet amazing people and make new friends all around the world.
Oh, by the way, what was totally unwanted when I got back to NYC after the tour and found my way to the hotel was the fact that the hotel peeps had fucked shit up and my room was not paid for in spite of Laswell wanting to pay for it: I was so damn tired at that stage (had a long week with jet lag and way too little sleep behind me) that I really wanted to slit my wrists, haha, especially as the clerk didn't appear too helpful....well, I called Laswell 3-4 times until he woke up and picked up the phone (I think it was 1:30am or so then) and he said I can pay for the first night and I will get reimbursed for that and that he'd take care of the other two nights first thing in the morning....so, there was a fuck-up but that was the hotel's fault.
Well, the more stuff you got (hotel bookings, flights, schedules etc) the higher the chance something's gonna get screwed up....but in the end, all is good so can't complain! *knocks on wood on the plane*
[edit at home]: the bag never made it to Finland with me
It arrived here on a later plane...but I got it! Was a bit stressed out tho...heh.
Was a pleasure to meet Bill Laswell in NYC, too: such a chilled-out dude, very very laid-back, humorous, cracking jokes all the time...gave me a bunch of CDs and complimented me on my beats, said he likes my new album and all, paid for all my expenses, and every time I tried to pay, he said "Your money's not good here!"
Ok well, that's a few words for ya....
I'll finish this off with some quotes and funny shit I heard on the tour that cracked me up and stuff!
---
Proto J [walks out of a club, drunk as fuck, waits for a silent moment and speaks to the people on the street]:
"My Penis has a tan!"
"I'm only African from my waist to the knees...you know what I mean?"
-Proto J
"I'm standing there and she starts grinding her ass against my cock"
-DJ 3eyes about his experience upon us entering a salsa club (or something like that)
"8-year olds, dude, 8-year olds"
-Bill Laswell, quoting my fave movie, "The Big Lebowski" upon seeing me order a White Russian
"I've never seen anyone have a White Russian in real life"
-John Brown
"You know what happened when 30 midgets fought a tiger? The tiger won."
-Kurt Submerged
"We've decided that we like you: we won't be feeding you to a bear"
-Kurt Submerged and his girlfriend, Jen
"Ramones!!!"
-The first thing that was hollered at me 10 secs after I left my hotel on my first day in NYC.
"We've had quite a few DJs play at our venue, but I've never seen people on the dancefloor actually get hurt from dancing to the stuff the DJ's played here"
-New Orleans promoter about Fanu set
"I only play kill-your-mother-kinda shit"
New Orleans' only female dnb DJ
"Have you ever fucked a woman whose vagina was like the sleeve of a wizard?"
-Proto J
"Yes"
-DJ 3eyes' answer to the question above [preceded by 4 seconds' absolute silence and emotionless facial gesture, followed by gigantic laughter by me and Proto J]
*at Proto J's place, all of us three real tired, ready to hit the sack, wondering where'd all sleep*
Proto J to 3eyes: "You can sleep in my bed."
[some silence]
3eyes [looking slightly concerned]: "But where are you gonna sleep then?"
Proto J: <smirk>
*MASSIVE, MASSIVE LAUGHTER*
*when handing in my boarding card, ready to enter the plane, there's a woman, prolly around 40-50 years old; she looks at my DJ bag:*
Woman: "You a soundguy?"
Me: "Pardon me?"
Woman: "Are you a soundguy?"
Me: "???"
Woman: "You got a Shure bag, you're a soundguy!!!"
*at Burger King, at the counter*
[female clerk 1 behind the counter looks at my red Shorty's beanie and bursts into laughter]
FC1: "Shorty's....haha!"
[female clerk 2 behind the counter looks at my Ramones t-shirt:]
FC2: "Do you know The Ramones?"
Me: "Like personally?"
FC2: "Yes!"
Me: "Nah, they're all dead – except for Marky, who is still alive"
[FC2 looks at my red Shorty's hat:]
FC2: "Shorty! Do you know him? Shorty Ramone, he was one of them, right?"
Me: "..."

Peace, and till the next time!
Let's do this again soon - I love the US!
Next stops Estonia, Italy, Austria, and Russia!
September 17th
There hasn't been an update in a month, I know!
And, some people have reminded me of that.
So here's what's up :)
I'm on an airplane again (surprise surprise, it's most often during travelling that I get on this job!), going to the US.
Doing a few gigs: Pittsburgh, Raleigh, and New Orleans - in that order.
After that I'm spending two days in NYC, meeting Kurt Submerged, Bill Laswell and Gigi, supposedly discussing the Fanu/Laswell album (should come out in early '08!) as well as some Fanu/Gigi stuff I should be doing. And I wouldn't be surprised if we found us hitting the beers as well :D
Expect loads of photos...even bringing my camera this time.
As for music shizzle:
I've finally finished the Subvert Central volume 3 tracks as well as the Welder remix. Release dates coming soon! Soundclips u can find if you scroll down a bit: I will update the clips when I get back to Finland (on Sept. 26th).
Now, I'll go back to whack my PSP and try to get some free drinks (where heck is the waitress when u need a beer...)!
Oh and oh shit yeah, I'll go back to my Akai s5000 days...I'm pretty fed up with the glitchy Ableton...I will buy Logic Express 8 as soon as I have some extra dough.
YO!
August 16th
Added even more free downloads!
I'm yet to set up a fancy page for 'em, but you can surf HERE to get some traxx yo!

The last news re: the Fanu/Laswell album is that it should come out in Sept/Oct...let's hold tight and wait and see!
Had to remove the audio by request from a higher authority, hehe!
And, last but not least: a free track giveaway! W00t!
Fanu - Two Drummers (click to download)
This was to come out on a label but the label owner has cut all communication with me (I've tried) and pretty much everyone else – so here you go.
If you're the label owner and still want to release the track, email fanu@fanumusic.com and let me know! ;-D

This is something I often think.
This world would be so much better if we all thought of each other a bit more.
It's the small things that make the biggest difference.
I'm trying to do as much good as possible in this small life.
I'm not a karma-believer or anything...just trying to be good.
Today, I was skating at my local spot.
A poor-looking kid of an immigrant family enters the spot with a supermarket skateboard in a really poor condition: the board had cracked length-wise, i could see it on the gripate, and the bearings were so damn loose, i could see that too.
Felt pity for the kid.
I asked him to come over to my flat so I could give him a decent complete skateboard.
It was a board that was sent to me for free by Kaptain Nemo from DOA this spring; when Nemo sent me the board, I started skating again after a 7-year break and that board got me back into the game big time.
I don't use it anymore as my fancy has changed from slim boards like that one to really wide ones.
Sorry, I know, maybe it's funny that I do something like that unconditionally and then tell you all about it.
But that's just because I want to challenge you all to do something good to someone some day.
Pay it forward - I did

I'VE CHANGED!
Well, most of you know Fanu as a drum and bass head.
That's what I've been for such a long time.
Not to say I've been a drum-and-bass-only head, never, no...
But dnb has really lost its importance in my life.
And, btw, before I go any further, I'll say this is not another of the numerous "oh I'm quitting dnb" posts you can find on the net.
I'll be realistic.
Well, this really isn't a recent thing.
I listen to zero drum and bass these days.
I'm not interested anymore.
The only times I rock some is when I play gigs, and those are the moments when I DO love it.
But that's all. I don't even listen to mixes anymore, check out clips, ask people for tunes, go check records in a shop etc.
I never go to dnb parties unless I play.
Has to do with many things: mainly dnb becoming quite soulless wank in general and the sound they consider suitable for parties getting so boring that I can't relate to it in the least. I suppose I've got a bit tired of constantly being/digging in the marginal (no, this really ain't gotta do with not getting money and/or fame, trust me).
These days, I listen to The Ramones, Pantera, Pearl Jam, Black Label Society and stuff like that and wish I had money to buy a drumkit and play drums to rock tunes.
We'll see where this thing goes!

TRAVELING - PART 1 (May 26th):
Travelling again. I just realized I'm pretty fed up of it. Just fed up of traveling, not fed up of PLAYING gigs or this whole music thing. Just travelling in general: all the hassle, taking buses/trains/whatever, killing time at airports, flying (flights with no free drinks are the worst! Just like the one I'm taking while laying down these words) – just travelling doing nothing (thank jesusfuckinggod I have a laptop! Macbooks rule! <3).
Also, I know I'm highly privileged to get to travel for free and meet awesome people and play at awesome parties so don't get me wrong!
I've been playing out here and there and travelled
quite a lot, and sometimes, when leaving my house
in the weekend, I've felt that I'd reeeeeally love
to have a weekend at home just chilling out, rocking
the sauna (our sauna slot is on Saturdays and I'm
ALWAYS away from home on Saturdays), meeting friends,
SKATING, casually drinking BEER, playing records with
my homies and stuff.
I suppose I'm at a point where the travelling starts to get quite boring. Can't say I haven't made a shitload of friends or a few bucks in the process cuz I have – it's just that leaving Finland to do a gig isn't always the most appealing thing when all you wanna do is relax and enjoy your life. I know that having an extremely busy year at the uni hasn't made these feelings any easier either: there's been an awful lot to do and while other students have been working on their uni shit on their days off, I've been gone here and there to play, which is why I had to postpost graduating by one year.
I know this may sound like some ungrateful kid whining but this ain't that: this is what I've always strived for; it's just that having a way too busy schedule has made all the travelling somewhat painful at times. Just gotta take it easy now as the summer's almost here: not doing too many gigs in the next six months...playing in the UK, Holland, Bulgaria, and Finland.
The rest of the time will be spent on making some
new music, chilling with all my friends, skating,
hanging out with some Pearl Jam and Ramones stuff
on my headphones – just leading a normal life.
I'm flying to the UK as we speak: doing a gig in Bristol tomorrow. Should be fun: it's my first Serato gig and I'm looking forward to doing it very much and it'll be so cool to meet Macc, Chris Inperspective and all the good duders there.
TRAVELING - PART 2 (June 1st):
Now flying to Amsterdam to play for Ichione. My fave promoters by far! Bringing my skateboard as well...should have a little session or two!
Funny that since the last travelling blurb, I had to put up with a lot of travelling stress in the UK...lots of car sickness (god i hate THAT!), and when leaving London, the train didn't go at all due to some failure and man, that lead in some crazy taxi stress biz...and I even missed my bus when I arrived back in Helsinki. AAARGH.
I know I'm moaning about travelling and I still just accepted a gig in Siberia in August...that's gonna include 12 hours of travelling in one way! But I'm going with Dissident so at least I ain't going alone.
Anyways...nuff of that.
As for music-making: I'm working on a remix for Welder. I'm remixing the wonderful tune from his album, called "Purple and Orange". The remix will be quite interesting; it's not dnb (why would it be anyway?), it's some 140bpm stuff. I've been working on several 140-bpm tracks recently...hoping to get my live act together at some point - it'll have a lot of 140-bpm-ism! Fuck all this writing: now I'm just gonna work on the remix! :D
May 24th
Just on a train, coming home from a countryside holiday.
Man, I love visiting my original hometown of almost (heh) 8,000 residents every now and then: it's so cool to go there just to distance yourself from everything and let go of the everyday stress and your usual day routines.
I've also picked up skateboarding again, which I've totally missed ever since I "quit" it in 1999. So much fun even though I'm busting my balls trying to re-learn everything I could do back then; it's funny that I can still remember in my head how most of the tricks are done but performing them is another matter, hehe! But I guess I could be doing worse. Some time ago I tried to get my old skating friends, who quit for good, to get themselves boards but they ain't up for it...I guess their excuse is that they feel too old and unable to do tricks...but that's hardly the point when it comes to having mad fun. I'm doing it and humiliating myself with pride, enjoying myself, and getting some real good exercise in the process as well: I haven't done nearly enough physical action in the past few years so I'm glad to have picked up this sport again.
We're still waiting for the album testpress dates. The manufacturer has had the masters for some time but I suppose they're just busy. Info coming as soon as I get some!
I'm very close to handing in the eighth and last break for the Fanu/Laswell collaboration album. Should be real good; Laswell reckons we're doing as well if not better than on the Enamorada album (which should be coming out soon). A Fanu/Gigi album is being discussed.
I've signed to Lightless some good stuff:
Lightless004 shall be Cycom / Martsman vs Bad Matter: Petrol / Cold Love.
Lightless005 will be Alpha Omega: Formants / Bleep Dis.
I wanna keep the stuff fresh so I won't give out any audio until the Fanu album is out.
Thanks to everybody who's bought Lightless003: it's been selling real well.
The planned Vector Burn isn't coming out, I suppose, as Vector Burn simply isn't replying to my emails; it's hard trying to work with people who don't talk to you.
Got some nice things cooking in the studio...some audio later!
Well, enough for now: take it ez and enjoy the spring!

Darkestral001: Fanu - Ninja Chicks / Toshiro is now in shops!
Clear vinyl, dope sleeve!
Geddit when you can!

So I'm now sponsored by Rane: I'm using Serato Scratch LIVE.

Basically, it's the coolest thing ever: it's an interface that you connect to your computer, and using that, two Rane vinyls that contain timecode, and an application, you can play all your digital music using the vinyls. The feeling of playing is NOT different from playing traditional vinyl: the touch is totally genuine, tracking is second to none, and the application/interface is really top notch. You just go through a browser and pick tunes for deck A and B to play and rock on!
This is such a relief for all of us who have got tired of lugging our vinyl around and who never got too fond of playing CDRs. No more carrying vinyl, no more burning numerous CDRs, no more cutting expensive dubs...this is all you need. Just bring this, your laptop, and the control vinyls and rock on!
Check more info HERE!
As for other stuff:
I reinstated the mixes page and did three new mixes, the latest of which is done entirely using Serato Scratch LIVE. Check out the page here (also see the navigation column)!
Fanu album, Daylightless, isn't very far: as far as I know, mastering has been booked and test presses have been ordered. More info soon!
All-Fanu mix volume 3 will be released soon: however, not before the album is out.

APRIL 25
In the middle of all studio action, university struggles, etc, here's a blurb.
I've just delivered the final .wavs of the Daylightless album to the distro - they'll book mastering soon. More news coming. The cover will look like this:

Currently I'm doing all my music with Ableton Live 6.
It'll all be for a live gig thing I wanna start doing in the future.
It'll be lots of breaks, good atmospheres, good vibes, no wobble (ahah!), lots of tempos, and even some housey/technoy/breakbeaty stuff.
One thing I wanna establish with my live thing – as well as with the forthcoming album – is that I'm not a "drum and bass artist".
I mean, not just a dnb artist. I've been making music with varying seriousness (heh) for over ten years now, and I've never been strictly a dnb artist: today, I make so much more other styles than dnb, and that's how it's always been.
However, what people know me for is drum and bass so that's why I'm considered by many a dnb artist only.
But the album, Daylightless, as well as my live thing – which will contain dnb for half the set max – will totally change people's views.
You'll see!
As for something else.
I've been boarding (mostly humiliating myself on my skateboard and having mad loads of fun in the process), travelling/DJing, enjoying the spring,
and all that.
Life's good!
Had to postpone my uni graduation by one year due to not being able to finish this spring a study paper I should've...and the next time I can hand it in is spring 2008. Ah well, life's about choices and at least I have one more easy year ahead of me when I can concentrate on music!
The Fanu/Laswell album is doing fine: I've delivered six breaks to Laswell and kru, who've been wildly playing their stuff on it. Should sound the bomb! I'm yet to hand in two breaks, after which my part will be done.
A break I did for Laswell ended up on a Nine Inch Nails record, which will come out in the fall.

It's time for me to change the way I work.
Up till today, I've had to answer - when asked if I could play a live gig instead of DJing: "No, I can't, as it'd be so much hassle".
From now on, things will change.
As I've mentioned here, I purchased for myself Ableton Live 6 some time ago, and now it's time to start focusing on it quite exclusively.
I'm plugging my Akai s3200xl sampler as well as my Live 6 audio channels thru my soundcard into my Soundcraft: I will keep the settings of all the mixer channels (gains, EQs, faders) identical, programming all my tracks so that they sound dope with those settings (gotta do some resampling and shit to color things up of course): this will allow me to load everything into my Live and play and mix it all together without having to spend any time with any desk settings! Will also install an fx processor or two in the setup.
Feels quite cool to think what a huge live bank I will have in, say, a year or two from today. And it'll all be available for playing out.
No, I'm not sponsored by Live (I paid for it), but I wanna say it's the wickedest thing I've had and you should check it out if you appreciate a truly thought-out product that will expand your creativity, increase your workflow and which offers a stunningly easy and flexible GUI.

*Lightless003 (Naphta) will be out in shops very very soon!
*I've been doing my teacher trainee thing, teaching kids English - loving it :)
*Been making some new downtempo and working on some dubsteppish thing - sounds coming sooner or later....
*Been gigging here and there...next stops Latvia, Ukraine, and Holland.
March 1st
Recently, I've been considering doing the next installment in the all-Fanu mix series.
I suppose the time'd be ripe for volume 3...there's enuff decent material, most of which are dubs at the moment. However, most of them should be coming out pretty soon: there's album material and we should get that out in the spring.
I think I'll be pretty damn lazy this time and do it with Ableton .
Well, I don't have two CDJs at home and there's material that I should play off CDRs so...
I don't think that should matter too much: I'll be doing some mixtapes anyways (as I recently got for myself a pair of s after a long break!) and – even though my mixes have always been to expose ppl to good shit – maybe, MAYBE, they display my DJ skills more, heh!
Anyways, will look into the all-Fanu mix volume 3 soonish....
---
I'm admittedly a gear-and-gadgets lover, and again, I have a reason to be friggin' happy:
I have just ordered for myself an Akai s3200xl sampler ( ) and a new cellphone, Nokia N73ME. Ordered the former because I'm an Akai / hardware fetishist and I cherish the "vintage" sound. Another reason for getting the Akai is that I've been thinking of starting to play live...as of yet I don't know for sure how I'd pull it off if I didn't wanna play it all off software (I think it'd be Ableton or Renoise) but at least Akai samplers are sturdy enuff to rock 'em in clubs. Maybe I'll go for a combo, how knows!
The reason for ordering the cellphone is that I've been after a decent phone equipped with a decent camera and a music player for a looooong time and now I think I found the perfect model. A 2-gig memory card for photos/music/video, w00t! Expect lots of new photos and videos from gigs!
